What are my chances of being Accepted to the University of Alabama?
I am a senior male who has ran cross country two years, played/lettered in golf one, basketball one, and tennis two. I am involved in the Young Republicans and FCA leadership. However, my overall GPA is either 2.9 or 3.0, class rank is 240 out of 270, and my SAT is right at 1000. My ACT is a 22.
I would say you have a low chance assuming your SAT scores are 500 in reading and math each. With those scores you are just above the lower 25th percentile of students who go there. That means only 25% of the students there have scores lower than yours. Your extracurriculars help, but your GPA is avg and your class rank is pretty low. According to the college admissions calculator on StuVu.com it says you have about a 3-13% chance. Now that by no means is a guarantee that you don’t get in since those things don’t take into account your personal academic story, race or gender. But with the information there you can see that if you got your SAT scores closer to the 600 range you would have a much better chance of being accepted since the top 25% of students there have a score of 600 or more. I would say if it’s the school you really want to get into, write a killer essay and try to improve your SAT scores. But by all means apply, because you just never know.
